Russia ranked 12th. Attracting 58% of all international retail brands surveyed, UK retained its number one country ranking, according to the new edition of the How Global is the Business of Retail? Report prepared by the leading global real estate adviser CB Richard Ellis (CBRE). The annual report has seen significant shifts in its ranking of global retail cities in the past year.
The first position of UK is increasingly being challenged by the United Arab Emirates, with the second highest presence of international retailers (54%).
Russia moved down the ranking from 12th to 11th place (41 %). Moscow, however, improved its position in the ranking of cities, moving up two places from 10th to 8th (40% of international retailers). Rounding out the top three, London (56% of international retailers) and Paris (46%) were followed by Moscow which clearly still holds global retail pulling power.
The report shows that St. Petersburg is attracting 26% of international retail brands (moving from 80th in 2009 to 67th).
